Welcome to sally Harrison’s art exhibition. Sally was born on the 26th of January 1949 she is aborigine. Sally grew up in an orphanage because the government took all the aboriginals to live in an orphanage with white kids. Sally never got to meet her dad and only ten years ago did she get to meet her mum. Sally was a self taught artist and took up dot painting in 1992. In 2003 she won the Bremer Institute of TAFE Special Achievement Award and in 2006 she won Best of Show Ipswich Art Awards. Recently sally came in to talk to us about her life and how she paints. Our name for her is Aunty Sally. She talked to us about how painting lets her forget about her life and just be free with her painting. Aunty Sally taught us to be relaxed with our painting, she did this by making us use our fingers to paint. She also taught us a bit about dot painting and how she creates the movement with the dots in the painting. Thank you for listening.
